Kitui gubernatorial aspirant and outgoing Kitui Central MP Dr Makali Mulu has told off leaders in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) camp seeking to woo Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka into President William Ruto’s government, insisting that the opposition chief has no interest in joining the administration.
Mulu maintained that Kalonzo’s position was clear and that those pursuing a political arrangement with him should abandon their efforts, saying the opposition leader was more interested in offering Kenyans an alternative leadership than negotiating his way into government.
“To all those calling on Kalonzo Musyoka to join the government, his position is clear. His answer is, ‘NO, thank you.’ Let us meet at the ballot,” Mulu declared.

The Kitui politician said the focus should instead be on giving Kenyans a leadership alternative that can restore public confidence, address the country’s challenges and build a nation that works for everyone.
“Our focus is offering Kenyans an alternative leadership. To Komboa Kenya, restore hope and build a nation that works for everyone,” he said.
Mulu made the remarks on Sunday, Novemikober 1, 2026, when he accompanied Kalonzo to a church service at AIC Kyemutheke in Kyumvi, Machakos County.
The visit brought together several national and county leaders who joined the congregation for a fellowship service and a fundraising drive towards the construction of the Mount Olives Prayer and Retreat Centre.
Beyond the religious gathering, Mulu used the occasion to weigh in on the country’s political and governance situation, expressing concern over what he described as four years of a predator regime.

He urged the church to continue speaking out, arguing that the country was in mourning and needed leadership that put the interests of citizens first.
Amkng those who had accompanied the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka were Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Wiper Patriotic Front chairman Jamleck Kamau, Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu, Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kavindu, Kalonzo Musyoka and Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu, among other national and county leaders.
The remarks add to the emerging political debate over possible alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Mulu making it clear that, in his view, Kalonzo’s political future lies in offering Kenyans an alternative rather than joining the current administration.
