Kitui Central Member of Parliament and gubernatorial aspirant Dr. Makali Mulu has strongly dismissed allegations circulating on social media claiming that he has a child out of wedlock whom he does not support, terming the accusations as malicious propaganda sponsored by his political opponents.
In a recorded video seen by Channel 15 News, the outgoing MP accused his rivals of orchestrating a scheme to tarnish his name as political activity in Kitui County intensifies ahead of the next general election.

Makali, who is seeking the Wiper Democratic Movement ticket to contest for the Kitui gubernatorial seat alongside Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua and Kitui Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu, warned that he will not entertain what he described as character assassination.
He maintained that he respects women and their rights, insisting the claims were false and politically motivated. The MP issued an open challenge to anyone with information about any child he may have allegedly neglected to come forward, saying he is ready to take responsibility.

He added that he has a large homestead and the ability to raise and support his children, dismissing the allegations as baseless attacks meant to derail his political ambitions.
Makali further claimed that the onslaught is being driven by political enemies who are threatened by his growing popularity, vowing to “show them dust” in the political arena and confront those behind the smear campaign.
The controversy was sparked by a social media blogger who alleged that the MP had fathered a child and abandoned both the mother and the child, claims that quickly spread online and ignited public debate.
However, the MP has stood firm in his denial, reiterating that the allegations are propaganda intended to damage his reputation ahead of the hotly contested governor’s race.
His public response has since sparked mixed reactions among sections of the public and political observers, with critics suggesting the matter has now drawn wider scrutiny, while supporters have defended him, terming the accusations as politically instigated attacks.
Makali concluded by asserting that no amount of character assassination would bring him down politically, stating that such efforts will not stop his bid for leadership in Kitui County.
