Kitui secondary school principals have been urged to harness the digital prowess of Generation Z teachers to drive technology-based learning, as they wrapped up their annual Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association conference at Reefs Hotel in Mombasa.

Speaking during the closing session on Wednesday, April 16, Kitui County TSC Director Margaret Kamau emphasized the need for school leaders to create an enabling environment that supports the creativity and innovation of young teachers, many of whom are digitally savvy.
“Gen Z teachers bring fresh energy and digital knowledge that can greatly transform our classrooms. Let’s support them, involve them, and allow their skills to shine,” Kamau told the gathering of principals.

She urged school heads to promote collaboration between experienced educators and the younger generation to help bridge the digital divide in the education sector.
Kamau further called on education stakeholders to invest in continuous professional development, especially in ICT, to ensure all teachers remain up to date with emerging trends.
Her sentiments align with the Ministry of Education’s broader push to integrate ICT in learning, in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Kenya’s Vision 2030 goals.
“Technology is not a threat—it is a tool. We must shift our attitudes and embrace it as a core part of modern teaching,” she added.
The Kitui KESSHA chapter conference brought together hundreds of school heads to discuss education reforms, emerging challenges, and opportunities for growth in the sector.
