The Kitui County Assembly has this morning unanimously approved the Supplementary Budget II Estimates for the Financial Year 2024/2025, totaling Ksh 14,148,976,193, marking a significant step in aligning the county’s fiscal plans with new national revenue laws.

The motion was tabled by Hon. Zacchaeus Syengo (Voo/Kyamatu), Chairperson of the County Budget and Appropriations Committee, who emphasized that the revised budget aligns Kitui’s allocations with the County Allocation of Revenue Act (CARA), 2025, and the County Governments Additional Allocations Act (CGAAA), 2025. The adjustments also saw funds reallocated from budget lines with savings to priority areas requiring additional financial support due to evolving economic demands.
“The Committee has worked diligently to ensure that the realignment of funds addresses pressing needs and reflects fiscal realities on the ground,” Hon. Syengo told the Assembly while moving the motion.

Members applauded the Committee’s efforts and called on the Executive to expedite implementation. In a move aimed at fast-tracking legislation, the House also approved additional sittings under Standing Order No. 27(3)(b) to deliberate the Kitui County Supplementary Appropriation II Bill, 2025 (County Assembly Bill No. 1 of 2025).

Notably, Speaker Kelvin Kinengo was conspicuously absent during the crucial session. Hon. Paul Maluki (Kithumula/Kwa Mutonga) chaired the sitting, while Hon. Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara (Tharaka), a Budget Committee member, formally laid the report on the Assembly’s Table earlier in the morning.
