The County Assembly of Kitui has unanimously adopted a critical oversight report on the implementation status of development projects funded by the County Government. The report covers the period between April 22nd and 30th, 2025, and was tabled during a plenary session held Tuesday morning.

The motion, moved by Kyome/Thaana MCA Hon. Alphonse Mukwaiyu and seconded by nominated MCA Hon. Rose Kathoka, called on the Executive to urgently implement the recommendations captured in the report to enhance transparency and efficiency in project delivery across the county.

In line with Standing Orders Nos. 179(6) and 190(5), the report’s adoption followed a fact-finding mission conducted by Members of the Assembly to various project sites. The lawmakers observed that while some development efforts were on track, others faced significant delays, poor workmanship, or incomplete execution, raising accountability concerns.

Chairing the session was Hon. Paul Maluki, a Member of the Speaker’s Panel, who lauded the Assembly for its vigilance in protecting public resources and ensuring that development reaches the grassroots.
“We have done our part as legislators. The ball is now in the Executive’s court to act swiftly and honorably. Our people deserve quality services, not excuses,” said Hon. Mukwaiyu.
The Assembly emphasized that following through with the report’s recommendations is not only a legislative expectation but a moral duty, especially in light of the increasing public scrutiny over stalled or substandard projects.
