The Ikanga/Kyatune ward representative has pleaded not guilty to the latest charges, bringing to three the criminal cases involving alleged theft of more than 180 smartphones.
Kitui County MCA Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka is facing two additional charges of stealing in connection with alleged smartphone thefts worth more than KSh2.2 million in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
Musyoka, the elected representative for Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, appeared before Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo at the Milimani Law Courts, where he denied both charges.

The latest charges bring to three the cases in which the MCA is accused of stealing a combined 188 smartphones valued at approximately KSh2.83 million.
According to the prosecution, the first of the two additional counts relates to an incident on September 14, 2026, when 20 Samsung A07 smartphones valued at KSh420,000 were allegedly stolen from the offices of Chania Genesis Limited along River Road.
The devices belonged to Ezekiel Kamau Gichuki.
In the second count, Musyoka is accused of stealing 126 Itel A200 mobile phones valued at KSh1,801,000, belonging to Simon Gitonga.
The alleged incident occurred on August 18, 2026, at North Rift Shuttle offices along Mfangano Lane. The prosecution told the court that Musyoka allegedly committed the offence alongside accomplices who have yet to be arraigned.
He denied both counts of stealing, contrary to Section 268(1), as read with Section 275 of the Penal Code.
The latest developments come three days after Musyoka appeared before the same court on November 3, 2026, and denied a separate charge involving 42 Itel City 200 smartphones valued at KSh609,000.
The prosecution alleges that the handsets, each valued at KSh14,500, were stolen from a shop owned by Dahir Adan Mohamud on August 5, 2026.
Bail dispute
The prosecution opposed Musyoka’s release on bond, citing the seriousness of the allegations and his previous failure to attend court, which had resulted in warrants of arrest being issued against him.
The court was also informed that the MCA was required to appear before the Makadara Law Courts to answer separate criminal charges.
In his plea for lenient bail terms, Musyoka told the court that he was a father of three minor children and had official responsibilities as an elected member of the Kitui County Assembly.
He maintained that he was not a flight risk, arguing that his place of residence was known to the police.
The court ordered that he remain in custody at Kamukunji Police Station until November 6, 2026, when he is expected to appear before the Makadara Law Courts for plea-taking in another case.
He is thereafter expected to be transferred to Industrial Area Remand Prison as he awaits the court’s determination of his bail applications in the three cases.
The ruling on the bail applications is scheduled for November 18, 2026.
