Kitui, January 29, 2025 – A somber mood has engulfed Our Lady of Africa, Kitui Cathedral, as the Catholic faithful, clergy, and religious leaders gather for the Requiem Mass of the late Rev. Fr. Fredrick Nguthu Mbuvi. The emotional service is being presided over by the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. John Mwandi, as the Diocese mourns the loss of a priest whose life was marked by humility, unwavering service, and deep faith.

Fr. Nguthu, who was born in January 1969 and ordained to the priesthood on September 14, 2002, dedicated 22 years to pastoral service, touching countless lives with his compassion and zeal. Until his sudden passing, he served as a Curate at St. Paul the Apostle Kwa Kilui Parish, where he was widely respected for his devotion to ministry and his love for the community.

Vigil Mass Schedule
As the Diocese continues to honor his memory, vigil Masses will be held throughout the night as follows:
- 8:00 PM – Yatta and Southern Deanery (Main Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Francis Mutua)
- 11:00 PM – Western and Northern Deanery (Main Celebrant: Rev. Fr. George Marete)
- 5:00 AM, January 30 – Central and Eastern Deanery (Main Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Patrick Musili)
