Kitui County Assembly Speaker, Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, officially flagged off the teams representing the Assembly in the 5th County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) Games 2024 during a ceremony held this evening.

In his address, Speaker Kinengo expressed confidence in the teams’ ability to excel across all sporting disciplines. He encouraged participants to carry the pride of Kitui County as they compete, emphasizing that sports foster unity, interaction, and the sharing of experiences.

Following the flag-off, the Speaker handed the county flag to the County Assembly’s Chairperson for Sports and Culture, Hon. Judith Wanza (Nuu), wishing the teams success in the upcoming games.

The week-long CASA Games, taking place in Bungoma County from 20th to 27th October 2024, will feature all 47 county assemblies. The event, themed “Fostering Inclusivity and Diversity in County Sports,” will see Kitui County Assembly teams compete in various disciplines, including football, volleyball, athletics, tug of war, and several indoor games.

In preparation for the games, the Assembly adjourned its sittings starting today, 16th October 2024, to allow Members of the County Assembly and staff to participate in the sports event. The Assembly will resume sittings on Tuesday, 29th October 2024, at 9:00 a.m. The motion for adjournment was moved by Tharaka MCA, Hon. Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara, and seconded by Hon. Gabriel Mutunga Munyao (Kauwi).
