Kenya Primary Schools Head Teachers Association (KEPSHA) National Chairman, Johnson Matheka Nzioka, was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony at Kasolongo Village, Masii Ward, Mwala Sub-County, Machakos County.

The burial ceremony took place at Kasolongo Primary School, where Nzioka schooled as a young boy. Mourners, including family, colleagues, and national leaders, gathered to pay their last respects to a man celebrated for his dedication to education. At the time of his tragic death, Nzioka was the headteacher of Donholm Comprehensive School in Nairobi County.

Nzioka met his untimely demise last month in a grisly road accident at Green Park, Athi River, along the Machakos-Nairobi highway. His vehicle collided with a trailer, cutting short the life of a leader described as hardworking, focused, and goal-oriented.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who attended the burial, praised Nzioka’s immense contribution to the education sector.

“I joined fellow mourners in paying my last respects to the late Johnson Matheka Nzioka, the Chairman of KEPSHA. He dedicated his life to shaping the education sector. His legacy will forever be remembered. May his soul rest in peace,” said Governor Wavinya.

Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Basic Education and Chairperson of the Education and Assessments Management Committee, eulogized Nzioka as a dependable figure who played a key role in shaping Kenya’s education landscape.

The emotional farewell marked the end of an era for the primary school teachers’ leadership, with many vowing to uphold the vision and dedication that Nzioka embodied throughout his career.
