Kenya is officially in top gear for the highly anticipated WRC Safari Rally 2025, set to roar through Naivasha, Nakuru County, from March 20th to 23rd. This announcement, made by Sports, Youth, and Creative Economy CS Salim Muvyra, signals the country’s unwavering commitment to cementing its place as a global motorsport hub.

Speaking after a high-level consultative meeting with Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, Nakuru County Women Representative Liza Chelule, and representatives from Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja and Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, Muvyra emphasized that preparations are in top gear to ensure a world-class event.

“This event will once again showcase Kenya as a premier destination for international events, tourism, hospitality, and investments,” Muvyra stated, exuding confidence in Kenya’s ability to pull off another successful rally.

    Economic Boom for Nakuru County

With just under two months to go, Nakuru County is expected to experience a massive economic windfall, as thousands of rally enthusiasts, tourists, and investors flood the region. Hotels in Naivasha and its environs are already recording a spike in bookings, with hospitality players projecting an over 30% increase in revenue compared to previous editions.

The rally’s significance extends beyond just thrilling motorsport fans—it’s a goldmine for local businesses, tourism, and employment opportunities. The government, in collaboration with local leaders, is working to enhance local representation to ensure that residents fully benefit from the multi-million-dollar event.

    Security and Infrastructure in Focus

CS Muvyra, who was flanked by Sports PS Eng. Peter Tum, WRC Safari Rally CEO Charles Gacheru, and regional security officials, assured Kenyans that security measures and infrastructural improvements are being prioritized. Road upgrades, enhanced surveillance, and logistical support are among the key aspects being addressed to ensure a smooth and secure event.

Ruto Administration’s Commitment to Global Sporting Events

The announcement of Kenya’s readiness comes as a major win for President William Ruto’s administration, which has actively championed Kenya’s role as an international sports destination. With the Safari Rally being one of the most iconic events on the WRC calendar, Kenya is set to showcase its capability to host world-class sporting events, potentially opening doors for more high-profile global competitions.

As the engines rev up and the countdown begins, all eyes are on Naivasha. Will Kenya deliver another spectacular edition of the Safari Rally? If history is anything to go by, expect thrills, adrenaline, and a boost to the nation’s global reputation.

Stay tuned for more updates as the WRC Safari Rally 2025 gears up for a high-octane showdown!
