Kamba elders have called for a united approach within the community to chart its political direction ahead of the 2027 General Elections. The elders have expressed dissatisfaction with Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing him of sidelining them from critical decision-making platforms that affect the community’s interests.
Speaking during a gathering in Machakos, the elders criticized Kalonzo for what they termed as a lack of inclusivity in his leadership. “You cannot claim to speak on behalf of a community that does not fully rally behind you. Leadership is about unity, not isolation,” one elder stated. They further accused him of avoiding collaboration with other leaders in public forums, which they believe undermines the collective strength of the Kamba community.
The elders are now calling on Kalonzo to abandon what they referred to as “tribal kingship politics” and embrace a more inclusive leadership model. They also voiced their support for Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli to assume his rightful position in the IEBC Selection Panel following his nomination under the Azimio minority party ticket. The elders emphasized that Kyalo Muli’s representation would ensure the community’s voice is heard at the national level.
This mounting pressure signals an intensifying internal push for the Kamba community to diversify its leadership representation as it strategizes for the next political cycle. Kalonzo’s political future now appears tied to how he navigates these growing demands for unity and inclusivity within his home turf.
