Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa on Tuesday visited former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju at Karen Hospital, where he remains admitted following his dramatic arrest that has sparked national debate.
Earlier, Tuju failed to appear for plea taking at the Kibera Law Courts, with his legal team—led by Kalonzo—informing the court that he had been hospitalised and seeking deferment of the proceedings.

The visit, which also included lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, came as fresh details emerged from the charge sheet filed at the Kibera Law Courts.
According to the charge sheet, Tuju is accused of giving false information to a person employed in public service, contrary to Section 129(a) of the Penal Code.
Prosecutors allege that on March 21, 2026, at Entim Sidai Spa and Wellness Sanctuary in Karen, he informed a senior police officer that he had been trailed, assaulted, and abducted by unknown individuals—claims authorities say were false and intended to mislead investigations.

The document indicates that Tuju was arrested on March 23, 2026, and initially held in custody pending court appearance.
In a significant legal reprieve, however, the High Court granted him anticipatory bail of Ksh 200,000, shielding him from further arrest and detention for now.

The application cited his deteriorating health and challenged the continued presence of police officers stationed at his hospital bedside.
Speaking after the hospital visit, Kalonzo said Tuju was in critical condition and undergoing medical scans to assess possible spinal injuries, which he alleged were sustained during the arrest.

“Together with Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, Adv. Ndegwa Njiru, and others, we visited Hon. Raphael Tuju at Karen Hospital, Nairobi. He is in critical condition, undergoing scans to assess spinal damage; injuries inflicted when police officers forcibly bundled him into their Subaru. Disturbingly, Hon. Tuju remains under police watch even as he receives treatment,” said Kalonzo.
He thanked the hospital staff for their care and called for respect of Tuju’s rights, urging authorities to withdraw police officers from his hospital room.
Kalonzo also took aim at William Ruto, challenging him to intervene.
“If Tuju is truly your friend, prove it: stop the daylight land grab, respect his rights, and order the immediate withdrawal of police from his hospital room,” he added.
The matter will be mentioned on April 7, 2026, for further directions.
The unfolding developments have heightened political tensions, with opposition leaders terming the arrest as harassment, while authorities maintain that due process is being followed.
