As the rulling party UDA continue to witness division with it’s top leadership, clearly only the opposition can take advantage of the game of cards and play to their advantage.

One man who has been visible in Kenya’s politics since Azimio lost to the rulling party, is none other than Wiper leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

Even before ODM party Leader Raila Odinga was nominated by the state to vie for an African Union senior position post, Kalonzo had remained visible calling out the government of the day especially matters increased taxation, poor leadership and daylight corruption being witnessed in current regime.

So daring Kalonzo has been such that he has been holding press conference weekly, countering government stand on different matters leadership at his Wipers Headquarters, marshalling support even from other opposition party leaders , with the likes of DAP’s Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee’s Jeremiah Kioni and ODM’s Edwin Sifuna backing him up. It’s not a lie that in the absence of Raila Odinga, the Wiper leader Kalonzo has learned from his previous lessons and stepped up.

But the former Vice President and Wiper party Leader has always faced an open rebellion in his home county, with several members of parliament choosing to battle it out at his home ground using UDA party tickets and winning against Wiper candidates . With that, the only question that poses a big threat to Kalonzo getting at the top of the house in the hill is how can he unite his divided house ahead of 2027 elections as politics is all about numbers, and in this case not divided ones.

Yesterday during the burial of the late Mama Agnes Mutete , the wife to Hon Joseph Munyao which was at Mbooni in Makueni County provided an opportunity for Kalonzo to put his house in order or mend his political ways, if he still dreams of being at the house on the hill.

Present was none other than an ally turned a old friend, one Hon Johnson Muthama who is currently serving as Commissioner for Public Service Commission.

His present between Wiper party leadership signified tension but that would not be the case as Muthama came out , calling out President William Ruto’s administration for failing to give the Kamba community an opportunity to enjoy the national cake while it was being shared.

When he took to the podium , Muthama took pride and credit as being the founding member and chairman of rulling party , UDA and said because of Ruto’s administration failure to acknowledge the Kamba community’s contribution to him getting to the power, the government had failed to honor the community while distributing it’s share and called on Kalonzo and other Kamba leaders to come together irregardless of their different parties and hold a conversation on what went wrong for the community.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka agreed and asked Muthama to host the event in July and invite former Kitui Senator David Musila who was Kalonzo ally and has since fallen apart. Kalonzo also suggested that the meeting should be convened by AIC bishop Ndambuki.

Following the new developments, Muthama would later take to his social today to defend his move .

“As the founding chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), I campaigned vigorously for the party for us to form government and I still hold allegiance to the ruling party. Despite being a loyal supporter of this administration, it doesn’t mean that anyone can deter me from championing the unity of my community and as I do that, it shouldn’t be misconstrued that I am leaving UDA or ceasing to support the President.” He said

What is left to be seen is how the Wiper leader will play his card so close and right to unite his community ahead of 2027 elections and keep the over 2 million voter block united.
