In a fresh twist to Kenya’s political realignments, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has initiated the process of rebranding his party from Wiper Democratic Movement to Wiper Patriotic Front. The move, made public through a Gazette Notice, invites written submissions from members of the public within seven days to the Registrar of Political Parties concerning the intended name change.

This rebranding marks another chapter in the party’s evolution, which began nearly two decades ago as ODM–Kenya in 2005 before rebranding to Wiper Democratic Movement in 2011. Kalonzo’s decision comes amid heightened political activity as parties gear up for the 2027 General Election.
Simultaneously, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties has issued another Gazette Notice affirming Uhuru Kenyatta as the bona fide leader of the Jubilee Party. The notice also recognizes Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary-General, effectively nullifying claims by the Kanini Kega–Sabina Chege faction, which has been locked in a protracted leadership tussle with the Uhuru camp.

The Registrar further confirmed that the officials endorsed during the Special National Delegates Convention (SNDC) held on May 22, 2023, remain the legitimate leaders of the Jubilee Party. This development consolidates Uhuru’s hold on the party and may shape upcoming coalitions and alignments within the Azimio La Umoja movement.
The dual notices have set the stage for a potential wave of reconfigurations across the political spectrum, as parties seek identity, relevance, and legal standing ahead of a heated 2027 political showdown.
