Police in Kitui Central Police Station are holding four men and a woman for questioning after they were nabbed yesterday masquerading as EACC officers at Cess Collection point in Kitui County.
Kamba Benga artist Kyalo Kasee of Kalandini Boys Band and 4 others were arrested in Kitui on Friday for impersonating Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers, Kitui Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Karanja has confirmed.
Kitui County Finance Minster Peter Mwikya Kilonzo told members of the press that the five suspects under custody tried to defraud one of his officers in the revenue department after trying to arrest the officer over corruption allegations and refused to book them at the nearest police station.
“After they made the arrest they took the officer into their car and said that they would not take him to the police station and they took him to his house because they had heard he has several millions and they wanted to take that money as evidence in the court, ” he added.
Confirming the incident Kitui Central subcounty Police commander Peter Karanja said that after receiving the report of the impersonators he sent police to arrest them urging the public to be on the lookout for impersonators and make reports when they get them.
