Former Machakos Town MP, Dr. Victor Munyaka, is once again at the center of political speculation after appearing alongside Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka during the finals of the Governor Wavinya Cup in Machakos. The event, hosted by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, sparked rumors of Munyaka potentially re-aligning himself with the Wiper Party, a move that could signify a significant political shift ahead of 2027.

This appearance comes shortly after Munyaka declined a government appointment by President William Ruto as Chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre. In his statement, Munyaka cited the current political climate and the need to focus on the government’s economic transformation agenda as reasons for turning down the role. Previously, he had also been nominated as a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Lands, but the position was nullified by the courts.

Once a staunch United Democratic Alliance (UDA) supporter, Munyaka unsuccessfully defended his parliamentary seat in the 2022 general elections. His presence alongside Kalonzo Musyoka could indicate a possible reconciliation with Wiper, a party under which he served in earlier stages of his political career. This move might signal his intentions to reposition himself politically within the Kamba region.

As the political landscape shifts, Munyaka’s future moves will be closely watched. His potential return to Wiper could strengthen the party’s standing in Machakos and beyond, particularly as Wiper continues to rally for Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidential bid.
