In a strong show of political might, Kitui Woman Representative Hon. Irene Kasalu has emerged as the undisputed front-runner in the race for the county’s top seat, according to a recent online poll conducted by Channel 15 Digital News between Thursday and Friday this week. The survey, which drew a total of 1,511 votes, asked Kitui residents who they would support for Governor in the upcoming 2027 General Election.

Hon. Kasalu received a resounding 729 votes, capturing nearly 48.3% of all votes cast. Her closest competitor, Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, garnered 497 votes, while Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu came in third with 128 votes. The rest of the candidates, including Jonathan Mueke (30 votes), Musili Kauta (49 votes), Nicholas Mulila (47 votes), and former CS Peninah Malonza (5 votes), recorded significantly lower support. Only 11 participants identified as undecided.

How They Fared: Musili Kauta (3.2%), Nicholas Mulila (3.1%), Jonathan Mueke (2.0%), Peninah Malonza (0.3%), and Charity Ngilu (0%) — based on 1,511 votes cast in the Channel 15 Digital gubernatorial poll.

This landslide victory in the poll underscores Hon. Kasalu’s growing popularity and the public’s increasing confidence in her leadership as she eyes the county’s gubernatorial seat. Her years of consistent advocacy for women, youth, and development, coupled with her vibrant grassroots mobilization, have clearly struck a chord with the electorate.

Wiper Giants Lead the Pack: Woman Rep Irene Kasalu (48.3%) and Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua (32.9%) emerged as the top contenders in the Channel 15 Digital gubernatorial poll. Their dominance underscores Wiper Party’s deep-rooted influence in Kitui and sets the stage for a possible showdown between two of its senior-most leaders in 2027.

Political observers note that Kasalu’s rise is not only a testament to her effective service delivery as Woman Rep but also a reflection of a broader shift among Kitui voters toward leaders with proven performance records and people-first agendas.

“In a field dominated by seasoned politicians, Kasalu’s decisive lead shows she’s not just in the race—she’s leading it,” remarked a political commentator in Kitui town.

As 2027 draws nearer, this early public sentiment paints a promising picture for Hon. Irene Kasalu and positions her as a strong candidate to watch in the race to succeed Governor Julius Malombe .
