Ikanga/Kyatune MCA, Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, has been released on a Ksh 500,000 bond after denying eight counts of fraud-related charges before a Kitui court. His dramatic arrest on Wednesday during a Wiper Party MCA meeting in Nairobi sparked political debate, with his legal team terming the case a politically motivated witch hunt.

Musyoka was arraigned in court under Case No: 400/167/2024 and charged with multiple offenses, including forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining property by false pretenses, and making fraudulent claims as a public servant. The prosecution alleges that the MCA fraudulently procured the registration of a motor vehicle, KCM 760Z, by falsely presenting himself as its rightful owner.
The Charges:
- False registration of a motor vehicle – Musyoka is accused of obtaining the registration of motor vehicle KCM 760Z under false pretenses.
- Forgery – The MCA allegedly forged a motor vehicle registration certificate purporting it to be a genuine document issued by NTSA.
- Uttering false documents – On January 12, 2023, at the County Assembly of Kitui, Musyoka allegedly presented the forged vehicle registration certificate as a legitimate document.
- Making fraudulent claims – He is accused of illegally claiming Ksh 2,212,000 in motor vehicle reimbursements from the County Assembly of Kitui.
- Forgery of a motor vehicle valuation report – The MCA is said to have conspired with others to forge a valuation report from Regent Automobile Valuers and Assessors Ltd.
- Uttering a forged valuation report – He allegedly presented the falsified valuation report as genuine before the County Assembly of Kitui.

Musyoka’s legal defense, dismissed the charges as baseless, arguing that the prosecution was being used as a tool for political persecution. They claimed that his arrest and subsequent arraignment were orchestrated by political forces aiming to silence vocal leaders due to his earned influence at the Kitui County Assembly ahead of Wiper party house re-allignments .
“This is nothing more than a well-calculated witch hunt aimed at tarnishing the name of my client,” argued Musyoka’s lead counsel in court. “The timing of his arrest, right in the middle of a Wiper MCA meeting, raises serious questions.”
Prosecutors, however, maintained that the evidence against Musyoka is solid, with key witnesses, including Rose Kavithe Ngoima, Daniel Ngoima Kimanzi, Martin Karu Muya, and Elijah Mwova Mutambuki, set to testify against him. The case, which has drawn significant public interest, is scheduled for mention in two weeks, with a full trial expected to commence soon.
Musyoka was released on a Ksh 500,000 bond without an option for cash bail, pending further hearings. His supporters in Kitui have vowed to stand by him, with some calling for mass protests against what they term as a politically driven case.
With the case now in court, questions linger: Is Musyoka a fraudster or a victim of political machinations? The unfolding drama promises to be one of the most high-profile legal battles in Kitui politics in recent years.
