Nine months after his dramatic ouster from Cabinet, former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi has finally broken his silence — and his revelations are nothing short of explosive.

Speaking during an interview on Weru Tv, a visibly agitated Linturi launched a scathing exposé, claiming he was sacrificed in a high-level cover-up involving the now infamous fake fertilizer scandal.

“I carried a cross that was never mine,” Linturi declared, distancing himself from the controversial saga that rocked the country and angered farmers nationwide. The former CS alleges that the fertilizer in question had been donated by Russia — but was swiftly diverted into the hands of two manufacturers by unnamed State operatives.

According to Linturi, the donated fertilizer was reconstituted to dangerously substandard levels before being resold to the Kenyan government under the guise of a subsidized programme for farmers. “It was a scheme. I was used as a scapegoat,” he lamented.

The revelations open a new can of worms about the internal workings of the Ruto administration and raise tough questions about transparency, accountability, and the true masterminds behind the scandal.
But Linturi didn’t stop there.

In a bold move, he took a swipe at the structure of power within the Cabinet, alleging that most CSs operate like puppets, unable to question directives — even after their names are gazetted. “You wake up to find your name in the Kenya Gazette, but after that, you can’t ask anything. You’re just there,” he said.
Even more shocking was Linturi’s claim that his relationship with President William Ruto is completely broken. “We haven’t talked in nine months,” he revealed, directly contradicting President Ruto’s recent remarks in Meru, where the Head of State claimed he was in constant talks with the embattled ex-CS.

Linturi’s confessions paint the picture of a man betrayed by the very system he served — and if his claims are anything to go by, the fertilizer scandal may just be the tip of the iceberg.
