Kitengela police, in collaboration with the Transnational Organized Crime Unit, have busted a major human trafficking ring, rescuing 58 Ethiopian nationals who were being held captive in a house near the House of Deliverance Center. The well-coordinated operation, executed following a tip-off from concerned residents, led to the arrest of two Kenyan suspects believed to be part of an international trafficking syndicate.

Secret House of Captivity
According to sources, members of the public grew suspicious after noticing a group of emaciated, distressed individuals confined in a maisonette in Kitengela. Acting on this intelligence, officers raided the house and found the victims in deplorable conditions—weak, malnourished, and without identification documents. Inside the house were two Kenyan men, identified as Daniel Nduati Kingoo and Peter Maina Kimemia, who are suspected to be part of a larger smuggling network.
A Route to South Africa
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ethiopian nationals had been held in the house for three days as they awaited transportation to their next destination—South Africa. Authorities believe this is part of a sophisticated trafficking route that spans multiple countries, involving agents who move migrants from Ethiopia through Kenya, Tanzania, and other nations before reaching their final destination.

Following the raid, 28 victims were taken to Kitengela Police Station, while 30 others were transferred to Isinya Police Station for further processing. The two suspects, believed to be key facilitators in the smuggling ring, have been taken to Muthaiga Police Station, where they will be interrogated by detectives specializing in human trafficking cases.
Motorcycle Seized as Exhibit
In addition to the arrests, officers impounded a Honda motorcycle (registration number KMGK 123T), which is suspected to have been used for transporting supplies or aiding in the smuggling operation. The motorcycle is currently being held at Kitengela Police Station as part of the investigation.
Authorities Sound the Alarm
Human trafficking remains a growing concern in Kenya, with law enforcement agencies constantly battling syndicates that exploit vulnerable individuals seeking better opportunities. Authorities are now working to establish whether more individuals are involved in the syndicate and whether additional safe houses exist within Kitengela or other parts of the country.

What Next?
The Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi has been notified of the rescue operation, and plans are underway to facilitate the repatriation of the victims. Meanwhile, the two suspects are set to be arraigned in court, facing charges of human trafficking, illegal detention, and facilitating unlawful entry into the country.
This operation highlights the importance of public vigilance in combating human trafficking, a crime that continues to thrive through underground networks. Authorities are urging anyone with information on similar cases to report to the nearest police station to help dismantle these criminal enterprises.
