A highly anticipated wedding scheduled for Saturday in Nairobi’s upscale Karen neighbourhood was on Friday dramatically halted by the High Court, following an urgent application by the bride’s father who claims he was deliberately sidelined from the ceremony’s preparations.
Nairobi businessman Francis Julius Ogallo moved to court on Friday morning, arguing that his former wife had intentionally excluded him from their daughter’s wedding in what he termed as emotional abuse under the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act.
Ogallo told the court that the exclusion was part of a wider pattern of mistreatment and misrepresentation, pointing to unresolved tensions dating back to a previous family wedding that allegedly ended in conflict. He also cited ongoing complaints he has filed with investigative authorities regarding similar disputes.

In response, the High Court issued a temporary injunction stopping the wedding, restraining the respondent and “any persons acting under her direction” from conducting or facilitating the event until the matter is heard in full.
The judge directed that the parties appear for an inter partes hearing later today, where the court is expected to determine whether the orders will be extended or lifted to allow the ceremony to proceed.
The abrupt halt has thrown the wedding plans into uncertainty, with family members and invited guests now waiting for the court’s next move as the legal battle unfolds.
