In a deeply emotional statement, Former Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana has announced the heartbreaking loss of his sister, Mrs. Lucy Ndiina Kibwana-Kioko. The devastating news broke this morning, with Kibwana revealing that Mrs. Ndiina succumbed to cardiac arrest after a three-year battle with health complications.
The late Mrs. Ndiina, a pillar of strength and faith within the Kibwana family, passed away surrounded by love from her husband, Kioko Mandala, her children, and an extended family that has rallied together in this time of grief.
Governor Kibwana extended his heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams across several hospitals who tirelessly attended to Lucy during her health journey. Among the institutions singled out for their commendable efforts are Makindu Level 4 Hospital, Taveta Level 4 Hospital, Luton Hospital in Nairobi, and the Makueni Referral Hospital, as well as Lancet Laboratory in Voi.
“Lucy fought courageously, holding firmly to her faith,” Kibwana shared, echoing a sentiment of strength and resilience that defined his sister’s life. However, the family finds solace in their faith, quoting Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted,” as they seek divine comfort in this painful period.
The loss has sent ripples of sorrow across the region, with tributes pouring in from residents of Makueni and beyond. As one of the most respected figures in the region, Kibwana’s family has always been a source of inspiration, and Lucy’s demise feels like a personal loss to many.
Details about the funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as the family comes to terms with their loss. May Lucy’s soul rest in eternal peace.
