Principal Secretary for Gender, Anne Wang’ombe, visited Florence Wanjiku at Optimum Hospital in Nakuru City to check on her recovery following a brutal domestic violence incident.
Wanjiku, a mother of two, was stabbed 18 times by her partner, Elias Njeru Mutugi, at their rental house in the Olive area of Kiamunyi Estate. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, who is also Wanjiku’s business associate at Indigenous Land Properties Limited, attacked her following domestic wrangles.
The police have launched a manhunt for Njeru over the alleged attempted murder and are appealing to the public for information that could lead to his arrest. Anyone with relevant details is urged to report to the nearest police station.
PS Wang’ombe condemned the act and called for intensified efforts to combat gender-based violence while assuring survivors of government support.
