Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s legal team has raised an objection to the participation of Senior Counsel James Orengo in the ongoing impeachment proceedings. Led by Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, the defense argued that Orengo, currently serving as the Governor of Siaya, should not represent the National Assembly in the matter.

Njiru highlighted that Orengo, as a full-time government official, is ineligible to serve as legal counsel in this case, citing concerns over potential conflicts of interest. The challenge is aimed at disqualifying Orengo from the legal process, which is becoming increasingly contentious as Gachagua battles multiple charges that could lead to his removal from office.

This legal push adds another twist to the unfolding impeachment saga, with Gachagua’s team seeking to influence the trajectory of the proceedings. A decision on Orengo’s involvement is expected soon, as both sides gear up for further courtroom battles.
