A political storm has erupted in Nairobi after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua sensationally claimed that Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party has agreed to hand over all three top Nairobi county seats—Governor, Senator and Woman Representative—to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Gachagua made the explosive revelation during a tense Thanksgiving service at PCEA Kariobangi, where he was celebrating the victory of DCP’s David Wanyoike Warui, the newly elected Kariobangi North MCA.
In a fiery speech that immediately ignited controversy, Gachagua insisted that the Kikuyu community must produce Nairobi’s next governor.

“KIKUYUS, we are the majority in Nairobi City.We OWN all businesses in Nairobi; the rest of the communities are consumers of our products. There is NO way as a community we can fail to field a candidate for Governor,” he declared, setting off murmurs inside the church and open hostility outside.

His comments, coupled with the announcement of the alleged Wiper–DCP pact, sent shockwaves through the capital’s political establishment.
Chaos Erupts Outside PCEA Kariobangi
Moments after Gachagua’s remarks, rival youth groups clashed outside the church, pelting stones and shouting down each other as tension spiraled.
Police were forced to intervene, firing in the air to disperse the crowds as terrified worshippers, including children, scrambled for safety.
The service—intended as a celebration degenerated into a battleground as accusations of political provocation flew between camps.
Gachagua Blames Government for Attempted Disruption
Addressing journalists after the mayhem, Gachagua accused the government of attempting to sabotage his Kariobangi meeting.

“Some people in government do not want me to speak to the people. They tried to stop this meeting using violence,” he claimed, adding that he would not be intimidated.
Gachagua’s claim that Wiper has agreed to allocate Nairobi’s three top seats to DCP instantly triggered debate, with observers saying the alleged pact—if real—could upend the 2027 political landscape in the capital.
The remarks also put Kalonzo Musyoka on the spot, with many now questioning whether Wiper is secretly re-engineering Nairobi politics behind the scenes.
