The chase is over. Fleviar Muhonja Anaya, the 29-year-old househelp who disappeared with Sh2.2 million from her employer’s home, has been arrested after a relentless manhunt across three counties.
March 16, 2025, started like any other day. Muhonja’s employer left her at home, trusting her with the house. But by the time she returned, her savings—Sh2.2 million—had vanished, and so had Muhonja.

A security guard recalled seeing her leave with a large carrier bag. When asked, she lied, saying she was running an errand for her boss. Moments later, her phone went off. Panic set in. The money was gone.
Detectives from DCI Nairobi Regional Headquarters and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau swung into action. Days turned into weeks, but they never let up. Finally, forensic leads pointed them to Malava, Kakamega County, where they cornered Muhonja and took her into custody.
Under interrogation, she cracked. The trail led detectives to Kapsoi, Vihiga County, where they found Sh700,000 hidden in her grandmother’s house.
Next stop: Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu County, where she had splurged some of the stolen money on three chain links.
The biggest breakthrough came in Nairobi’s South B, Fuata Nyayo area—inside her rented house, detectives recovered Sh800,000 in cash.
Now locked up at Capitol Hill Police Station, Muhonja awaits her fate in court. Her arrest serves as a warning: no matter how far you run, the law will always catch up.
