Former Baringo North Member of Parliament Hon. Willy Rotich Kamuren has passed away at a Nairobi hospital, his family has confirmed. The veteran politician, who left an indelible mark in Baringo County politics, breathed his last after a period of illness.
Hon. Kamuren, a seasoned leader and businessman, was the proprietor of Grand Holiday Hotel and Lodge along Accra Road, Nairobi. His political journey dates back to 1963, when he became the first Member of Parliament for Baringo East (now Tiaty Constituency) on a KADU ticket. His long career saw him nominated to Parliament in 1983 before securing an elective seat as Baringo North MP from 1988 to 1997. He also served as Assistant Minister at the Office of the President (OP) during his tenure.
