Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohamed has confirmed that Kenya is in high gear preparing to co-host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), a tournament that promises to place the country at the epicenter of continental football once again.

In a statement released Friday, Hussein announced that the grand finale of the prestigious tournament will be held at Nairobi’s iconic Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani — a historic moment as the nation welcomes Africa to its home turf.

“In less than two months, Kenya will co-host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) alongside Uganda and Tanzania,” said Hussein. “The final will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani – an exciting moment as we prepare to welcome Africa to our home ground.”

The statement marks a major milestone for Kenya, which has ramped up its investments in sports infrastructure under the current administration. The CHAN tournament — exclusively featuring players who compete in their domestic leagues — is expected to draw thousands of fans, scouts, and international attention to East Africa.

FKF’s Hussein also took the opportunity to thank key stakeholders whose unwavering support has made this co-hosting opportunity a reality.

“We thank CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and the entire CAF leadership for their trust and guidance,” Hussein stated. “And we extend our sincere appreciation to the Government of Kenya for its continued investment in sports infrastructure.”

This year’s CHAN is being seen as a dress rehearsal for even bigger events in the near future, as Kenya positions itself as a credible destination for global sporting events. The Moi International Sports Centre has undergone upgrades in recent months, including turf enhancements and improvements in security, digital ticketing, and spectator facilities.

With less than 60 days to go, Hussein emphasized that “all eyes are on Kenya” as the country braces to deliver what is expected to be a world-class tournament.

The 2024 CHAN tournament not only promises exciting action on the pitch but also offers Kenya a unique chance to showcase its hospitality, organizational capacity, and passion for the beautiful game.
