Kitui Town is once again at the center of a heated land dispute after a well-known imposter, backed by an online alcoholic blogger, attempted to spread falsehoods in an effort to fraudulently acquire land that does not belong to him. Channel 15 News is in possession of concrete evidence proving that the rightful owner of the contested plot is Christopher Assumani Kimele, as per a legally issued lease order dated December 1, 1992, by the Kitui County Council.

The Truth Behind the Fraudulent Scheme
Records exclusively obtained by Channel 15 News confirm that the imposter is not the legal owner of the land. Instead, he is using fake documents and political propaganda to defame the rightful owner in a desperate attempt to seize the property. This is not the first time the fraudster has targeted the land.

In December 2020, he orchestrated a gang of armed youths, with the help of a notorious land grabber, in an attempt to sell the same plot to an unsuspecting buyer. Police records under OB 57/16/12/2020 show that the imposter had even attempted to erect beacons on the land in a forceful takeover bid.

However, the rightful owner, Christopher Assumani Kimele, a former Chief Cartographer at the Ministry of Lands and Surveys, has all the necessary legal documents, proving his ownership. These include a Certificate of Lease No. 11/89, which confirms his registration as the sole proprietor of the leasehold interest for a period of 99 years, effective from December 1, 1992, at a lease rate of Ksh 2,000 per annum.

Bogus Documents and Online Propaganda
Despite the overwhelming legal evidence, the land imposter has been using an alcoholic blogger to peddle fake narratives online. The only document they have—a so-called “clearance certificate”—has no legal standing and contains manufactured details that do not match the actual plot.

Shockingly, Channel 15 News has also established that the imposter has been paying land rates for an entirely different plot—KTI/29/92/18/12B—which has no relation to the contested land. This raises further suspicions about his intentions and the fraudulent nature of his claims.
Authorities Warn Blogger Against Spreading Fake News
When contacted for comment, Kitui County Police Boss refused to go on record regarding the land dispute but issued a stern warning to the alcoholic blogger being used to spread misinformation.
“That blogger should understand that his data are just numbers, and this might be the last time he spreads fake news online,” the police boss cautioned.
With these revelations, it is evident that the land imposter is running out of options as his fraudulent scheme crumbles under the weight of verifiable evidence. Channel 15 News will continue to expose attempts to manipulate the public and steal legally owned land through deceit and propaganda.
