The dreaded reign of Abdallah Suleiman, alias Asuu, a notorious drink-spiker who has terrorized bus passengers across Kenya and beyond, has finally been brought to a dramatic halt.

For months, detectives from Mombasa had been on his trail, piecing together reports of stupefying and theft cases filed at Mombasa Central Police Station. Victims described eerily similar encounters: a friendly fellow traveler offering snacks and drinks, moments later, darkness—and then waking up robbed and stranded.

Asuu’s web of crime stretched far and wide. He preyed on travelers bound for Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu, and even cross-border routes into Tanzania, stripping them of hard-earned cash, phones, laptops, and jewelry.

But on Sunday, his luck finally ran dry. Detectives acting on intelligence intercepted a Nairobi-bound bus at Mariakani Weighbridge. In a daring sting operation, they boarded the vehicle and nabbed Asuu mid-journey.

A search of his belongings unveiled the sinister tools of his trade: Lorivan 2 tablets, drug-laced soft drinks, and sedative-soaked snacks—each item ready to incapacitate unsuspecting victims.

“This man was the mastermind of bus heists. He perfected the art of drugging passengers and looting them in their sleep,” a senior detective revealed.

Asuu now sits behind bars in Mombasa, awaiting arraignment. Detectives are digging deeper, suspecting he may be part of a broader network that has long targeted Kenyan highways.

For shaken passengers, the arrest signals the end of nights filled with fear, drugged slumber, and stolen dreams.
