The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested Samuel Kariuki Ngaanga, the Bomet County Director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), for allegedly soliciting and receiving a Kes 25,000 bribe.
According to EACC, the arrest followed a report filed on July 22, 2025, in which the suspect was accused of demanding a bribe to allow a lodging facility in Mulot Township to continue operating without key regulatory approvals — specifically, an Effluent Discharge License and a valid Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) certificate.
Following swift preliminary investigations, EACC detectives staged an undercover operation in Bomet Town, where Ngaanga was caught red-handed receiving the Kes 25,000 bribe from the complainant. He was immediately arrested and taken to Bomet Police Station, where he was interviewed, processed, and had his statement recorded.
Ngaanga was later released on a Kes 30,000 cash bail pending further investigations.
In a statement, EACC emphasized that the Commission remains committed to dismantling bribery
