The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arraigned former Garissa County Chief Protocol Officer, Ms. Khadija Abdullahi Bare, over allegations of forging a university degree to unlawfully secure a senior position in county government.
According to EACC investigations, Ms. Khadija presented a forged Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Political Science, allegedly from the University of Nairobi, which she used to obtain employment in the Garissa County Government.
She was arrested on June 12, 2025, and charged today at the Garissa Law Courts with multiple offences, including forgery, uttering a false document, and fraudulent acquisition of public funds amounting to Ksh 6,825,266.40 — the total salary she earned while holding the position.
The court released the accused on a cash bail of Ksh 100,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh 500,000.
In a statement, EACC reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to weeding out forged academic credentials in public service, stating that such actions undermine integrity and deny qualified Kenyans fair opportunities.
