Deputy President Kindiki Kithure has chaired the inaugural session of the Cabinet Committee on Governance, Social Sector, and Public Administration at his official residence in Karen, setting the stage for enhanced government coordination in key areas of public service. This high-level gathering aimed at aligning strategies for social sector development and public administration was attended by an array of top Cabinet Secretaries, reflecting the administration’s commitment to comprehensive policy integration.

Present at the meeting were Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi (National Treasury and Economic Planning), Julius Migos Ogamba (Education), Eric Muriithi Mugaa (Water, Irrigation, and Sanitation), Beatrice Askul Moe (East African Community, ASALs, and Regional Development), Kipchumba Murkomen (Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports), Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife), Soipan Tuya (Defence), Dr. Alfred Mutua (Labour and Social Protection), Dr. Debra Barasa (Health), as well as the Secretary to the Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau.

Attorney General Dorcas Oduor was also in attendance, underscoring the importance of legal oversight in implementing the committee’s priorities.

The committee, established to streamline inter-ministerial efforts and drive reforms across public administration, intends to focus on critical areas that impact Kenyans directly, such as healthcare, education, regional integration, and environmental sustainability. This approach aims to ensure that the government’s developmental targets, including those under Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Model, are strategically advanced and properly aligned with the needs of the public.

Deputy President Kindiki emphasized the value of cohesive action among ministries to enhance public sector efficiency. He highlighted that the committee’s diverse composition would provide a balanced approach to solving the nation’s most pressing challenges.

In a statement following the meeting, the Deputy President reiterated the administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in public service, noting that the committee will work closely with all levels of government to uphold these principles.

The formation of this committee comes amid rising calls for public sector reforms, with the committee expected to convene regularly to track the progress of policy implementations. Many view the committee’s establishment as a significant step in President William Ruto’s agenda to build cohesive governance structures while strengthening local administrative capabilities.

With the Deputy President spearheading these efforts, the administration hopes for a more unified and impactful approach to governance, enhancing the quality of service delivery and meeting Kenya’s socio-economic goals in the years to come.
