The County Assembly of Kitui has officially wrapped up the preparation of its committee work plans for the 2024/2025 fiscal year. These work plans serve as essential road maps, guiding committee members in their core responsibilities of legislation, representation, and oversight throughout the year.

During the closing event, Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya emphasized the significance of these work plans, noting that they are pivotal in organizing committee activities. He highlighted that with a clear plan in place, committees can systematically address all pertinent issues within the allocated time frame, avoiding disorganized or reactive approaches to legislative oversight.

Deputy Speaker Hon. Christopher Nzilu Nzioka, who represents Kyangwithya West and serves as the Chair of Chairs, also stressed the importance of these work plans. He pointed out that they ensure the legislative process remains systematic, transparent, and efficient. “Committee work plans not only structure our activities but also enhance our ability to fulfill our legislative and oversight duties, ultimately leading to better governance,” Hon. Nzilu remarked.

As the new fiscal year approaches, the County Assembly remains committed to its role in ensuring that the work of the committees contributes to the overall effectiveness and accountability of the County government.
