Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has taken to his Facebook to claim that his son and 19-year-old brother-in-law were abducted on the night of September 23, 2024.

According to his post, the two were taken at gunpoint by unknown assailants and tortured for six hours in an attempt to extract information on his whereabouts. The kidnappers allegedly demanded to know where he and his wife were located and even tried to find their Kitengela residence.
After failing to locate them, the abductors dumped the two along Thika Road. Malala later confirmed that while they were safe, they were left deeply shaken and traumatized.

This incident occurred just two days after Malala publicly warned President William Ruto against attempts to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Malala has been a vocal critic of such plans, warning that ousting Gachagua could destabilize the UDA and might even lead to Ruto’s own political downfall. He further claimed that opposition MPs had been approached to spearhead the impeachment effort.
