Tension erupted at Kalimani Mixed Secondary School in Kitui West Sub-County today as students took to the streets in a dramatic protest against their Deputy Principal, whom they accuse of harassment and insubordination.
The learners, led by their student leaders, abandoned classes and marched towards the Kitui County Teachers Service Commission (TSC) offices, demanding the immediate transfer of the Deputy Principal. However, their demonstration was cut short after police intercepted them at Kaveta, just a few kilometers from Kitui Town, dispersing the group before they could reach the county education offices.

Speaking exclusively to Channel 15 News, students alleged that the Deputy Principal has been undermining the school’s leadership by defying directives from the Principal and inciting a section of teachers against the administration. They further claimed that past complaints to education officials have gone unanswered, leaving them with no choice but to stage the protest.

“This is not the first time we are raising our concerns, but the County Education leadership has ignored us. We demand action now before things get worse,” said one of the student leaders.
Police officers restored calm at the scene, but the fate of the Deputy Principal remains uncertain as education officials are expected to respond to the matter.
