Embakasi East MP and Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Babu Owino has sensationally accused Principal Secretary for Internal Security Raymond Omollo of sponsoring goons to disrupt opposition activities in Nyanza.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen Sunday Live hosted by Jeff Koinange on Citizen TV, the outspoken legislator claimed that more than 200 armed youths were mobilized to attack him and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna at Kisumu International Airport.
Claims of Planned Disruption
Babu alleged that the group was armed with pangas and knives and had been strategically placed at the airport to block their planned trip to Kakamega for a political rally.

“I received first-hand information clearly indicating PS Interior Raymond Omollo sponsored goons to access Kisumu International Airport waiting for us,” Babu said, adding that he was speaking “with a lot of conviction and serious evidence.”
He further claimed that one person was killed during the chaos and linked the incident to what he termed as politically sponsored violence.
Teargas and Police Allegations
The MP questioned how civilians obtained teargas canisters, suggesting possible involvement of security agencies.
“Where did these citizens get teargas from if it is not from the police? If it is from the police, why would they give an ordinary citizen teargas?” he posed during the live broadcast.

Babu maintained that despite the alleged attack, they chose restraint. “We don’t respond evil with evil. We are fighting even for those goons because they don’t have jobs or food for the next day,” he said, blaming unemployment for making youths vulnerable to political manipulation.
Direct Accusations and Arrest Claims
In a bold move, the MP revealed that he personally texted PS Omollo, accusing him of orchestrating the violence. He further alleged that his brother-in-law had been arrested in Kilimani prior to the rally and later released in Machakos at 4am following public pressure.
Babu also claimed that some of his security officers are currently being held at Kisumu Central Police Station without charge, alleging that officers from DCI headquarters in Nairobi were dispatched to effect the arrests.

He challenged the PS to face him in court, stating: “I am an advocate of the High Court and I am ready to defend myself in court. I want to cross-examine the PS Interior.”
Political Mobilization Ahead
The Embakasi East MP said the opposition movement remains undeterred and is planning a series of rallies across the country, including Mombasa after Ramadhan. He noted that a timetable running up to December will be unveiled as part of broader political mobilization efforts.

“We have the political acumen, the intellect, the passion and the energy. The greatest resource we have is the wananchi who are suffering,” he declared.
The allegations are likely to heighten political tensions as the country inches closer to the next election cycle. By the time of publication, PS Raymond Omollo had not publicly responded to the claims made during the live television interview.
