Dr. Augustus Muli’s Bold Political Moves: Aligning with Raila, Ruto, and Kenya’s Top Leadership

Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, the National Liberal Party (NLP) leader and Anzauni Patron, has once again demonstrated his ability to position himself strategically in Kenya’s shifting political landscape. As Raila Odinga vied for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship, Muli joined over 40 MPs and several governors in Addis Ababa, standing alongside political heavyweights from across the divide to support Odinga’s bid.

Dr. Augustus Muli touches down at Bole International Airport via an Emirates Airways flight from Dubai, where he was on a month-long business trip. He is welcomed by fellow Kenyan leaders X Muranga governor Hon Mwangi Wa Wairia and Homabay Mp Peter Kaluma , ready to immerse himself in the AU elections atmosphere.

Landing at Bole International Airport on Friday morning via an Emirates Airways flight from Dubai—where he had been on a month-long business trip—Muli wasted no time in immersing himself in the political moment. He was among the first to join Homabay MP Peter Kaluma and other Kenyans in jubilant celebrations, creating a winning atmosphere at the airport with songs and dances.

Dr. Augustus Muli, having repositioned himself among Kenya’s top political figures, continues to make calculated moves that are set to shape his political future in the coming years.

Muli’s presence in Addis Ababa was not just symbolic—it was strategic. At the Sheraton Luxury Hotel, where the Kenyan delegation was set to retreat and celebrate a potential Raila victory, Muli was captured engaging with influential figures such as Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka and former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria.

Dr. Augustus Muli engages with top political figures in the country including Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka and Kisumu Governor Proff AnyangNyong, at the Sheraton Luxury Hotel, where the Kenyan delegation was set to celebrate Raila’s anticipated win.

Later, during Raila’s meet-and-greet with the Kenyan delegation, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and Homabay Governor and ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga were seen in Muli’s company, signaling his growing influence and his alignment with the right political wave.

His recent moves reflect a key principle from The 48 Laws of Power—aligning oneself with winners to elevate political standing. As political analyst Peter Muthoka noted in an exclusive interview with Channel 15 Political Scoop, “Whether Raila won or lost, Muli is on the right trajectory in his political career. He is making the right alliances, which will shape his future.”

Even as he navigates national politics, Muli has not lost sight of strengthening his party. On the same day he was making moves in Addis Ababa, his NLP party launched a membership recruitment drive in Kitui, a clear signal of his intent to build a formidable political force.

Muli’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. After stepping down from the IEBC Selection Panel following a protracted battle with Wiper over Kalonzo Musyoka’s insistence on Dr. Koki Muli’s nomination, he has continued to realign himself with Kenya’s top political figures, proving that his political instincts are as sharp as ever.

His latest moves indicate that he is not just a spectator in Kenyan politics—he is a player making calculated steps toward a bigger political future. As the dust settles on the AU elections, one thing is clear: Dr. Augustus Muli’s political re-alignment is gaining momentum, and it’s only a matter of time before the results of his strategy unfold.
