Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday made an unexpected visit to Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua in Kimunye, Kirinyaga County, sparking speculation about a possible political realignment.

The meeting, which took place at Karua’s residence, reportedly lasted for several hours before the two leaders emerged to address a small gathering. However, it was Karua’s fiery remarks that stole the show, sending shockwaves across the political landscape.

“No more betrayal! Those who have betrayed our people, let’s get them out!” Karua declared, her voice filled with passion.

While she did not mention names, her remarks seemed to be a direct jab at politicians she believes have failed Mt. Kenya’s interests. The former Azimio running mate has been vocal about what she sees as political backstabbing in the region, and her latest statement suggests she is ready to take the battle to the next level.

Gachagua, who has been facing mounting pressure over his impeachment battle, remained tight-lipped during the address, leaving many wondering about the true purpose of his visit. However, insiders suggest he may be seeking new alliances as his political fate hangs in the balance.

But Karua did not stop there. In a stinging rebuke to unnamed forces, she dismissed claims that she was mobilizing protests.

“Wengine wetumpka, tumeanza kuwa recruited kufanya fujo! Tumekaa kwa amani. Ukitaka mkutano, tagahali fans yako!” (Some people are claiming we are being recruited to cause chaos! We have been peaceful. If you want a meeting, fund it yourself!)

Her words appeared to be a response to allegations that Mt. Kenya leaders opposing the government were planning mass demonstrations.

This unexpected meeting has ignited fresh political debates about the shifting power dynamics in the region. Is Gachagua seeking Karua’s backing as he battles his impeachment? Or is Karua positioning herself for a new political wave in Mt. Kenya?

One thing is clear—Martha Karua is not holding back, and the battle lines for Mt. Kenya’s future leadership are being drawn.
