Makueni Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili has suspended Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture & Tourism CECM Sonia Nzilani following her controversial remarks linking menstruation to crocodile attacks. The decision comes after widespread public outrage over Nzilani’s comments, which many deemed insensitive and misleading.

In a statement, Mulili disowned the remarks and issued a public apology, emphasizing that Nzilani’s views do not reflect the county government’s position. She reiterated Makueni’s commitment to gender equity, menstrual dignity, and community safety.

The county government has also announced plans to accelerate key water projects to curb crocodile attacks along River Athi, ensuring residents have access to safe and clean water.

Nzilani’s suspension marks a strong stance by the county leadership, signaling zero tolerance for remarks that undermine public trust and social progress.
