Samsung Electronics East Africa has expanded its retail presence in Kitui County with the opening of a new shop-in-shop outlet at City Gate Mall, alongside a device financing partnership aimed at making smartphones more accessible to local consumers.
The outlet, established in partnership with Image Connections, represented by Maureen Mutua and Mutua Ndungi, gives customers in Kitui town a dedicated space to explore Samsung smartphones, receive product guidance and select devices suited to their personal and business needs.

Brenda Nakhulo Khaimia, Head of Marketing for the Mobile Experience Division at Samsung Electronics East Africa, said the expansion reflects the company’s strategy of bringing its technology closer to consumers across Kenya.

“Our retail strategy must reflect the diverse needs of the consumers we serve across Kenya,” Khaimia said. She added that the new outlet would allow Samsung to engage more directly with consumers while advancing its “Innovation for All” vision.
The launch also featured a collaboration with Watu Simu, which is introducing a smartphone financing option through its Lipa Mdogo Mdogo payment plan.

Watu Simu’s Eastern Region representative, presented the financing option, which allows eligible customers to acquire smartphones through instalment payments.
The arrangement could provide an alternative for traders, entrepreneurs and other consumers who may prefer to spread the cost of purchasing a device rather than pay the full amount upfront. Customers should confirm the applicable deposit, repayment schedule, fees and eligibility conditions directly with the financing provider before committing.
The expansion comes as smartphones play an increasingly important role in business communication, digital payments, online marketing and access to digital services.

For small businesses in Kitui, access to suitable smartphones can support customer engagement, online sales and day-to-day operations. The new outlet provides a local point of access to Samsung devices, while the financing option offers another route for eligible consumers to acquire them.

Samsung’s Kitui outlet adds to the company’s retail presence in Kenya, bringing its products and customer guidance closer to residents outside the country’s largest commercial centres.
The longer-term impact of the launch will depend on consumer uptake, product availability and the affordability of the financing arrangements offered to customers.
