The Ministry of Health has received Ebola response supplies worth KSh 83,390,710 from the Government of India to strengthen Kenya’s preparedness and response to the ongoing Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak.
The donation comprises 6,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, 60 powered air-purifying respirators, 30,000 N95 masks and more than 86,000 sample transport kits, alongside medical gowns, gloves, face shields, protective boots and infrared thermometers.

Speaking at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) facility in Embakasi, Nairobi, during the handover ceremony, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni said the supplies would bolster the capacity of frontline health workers and strengthen outbreak response operations.
The commodities are expected to support treatment and isolation centres, rapid response teams, screening at points of entry and health facilities, as well as infection prevention and control measures.

The supplies were handed over by the High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Kenya, Dr Adarsh Swaika, as part of efforts to support Kenya’s response to the outbreak.
The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to containing the outbreak through early detection, prompt isolation and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
It also urged Kenyans to remain calm and vigilant as health authorities continue implementing measures to curb the spread of the disease.
