One person has been confirmed dead following a tragic road traffic accident that occurred early today at Kasevi Junction along the busy Thika–Garissa Highway near Nguni.
The accident involved a Garissa-bound PLP bus and a private saloon car in a head-on collision. The impact of the crash caused the bus to burst into flames, creating a terrifying scene that attracted residents and motorists.
According to preliminary reports, one person lost their life in the accident while several others sustained injuries of varying degrees. Emergency responders and good Samaritans rushed to the scene to assist the victims before they were taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
The body of the deceased was moved to the Mwingi Level 4 Hospital Mortuary pending identification and further investigations.
Police have launched investigations into the cause of the accident as concerns continue to grow over the rising number of road crashes along the Thika–Garissa Highway.
