Drama unfolded in Wote Town on Tuesday morning after the wife of celebrated Kamba Benga musician and Kyaume Boys Band leader Bernard “Kativui Mweene” Mbatha allegedly deflated all four tyres of his vehicle during a heated public confrontation over claims that he had neglected his parental responsibilities.
The incident, which drew the attention of residents and passers-by, reportedly occurred in the town centre as Cynthia Musenya accused the popular musician of failing to provide for their children’s basic needs, including school fees and upkeep.
Videos and photographs that have since circulated widely on social media captured the dramatic confrontation, with members of the public gathering around as the couple’s disagreement played out in full view.

The latest incident comes barely two months after the musician’s family found itself at the centre of public attention following reports that sparked speculation about trouble in the couple’s marriage. At the time, concerns escalated on social media after photos showing Cynthia Musenya nursing injuries surfaced online. However, Musenya later sought to quell the speculation by sharing medical documents and explaining that the injuries had been sustained in a boda boda accident, not under the circumstances that had been widely alleged online.
Tuesday’s confrontation has nevertheless reignited public interest in the family’s affairs, with many fans expressing concern over the apparent dispute between the couple.

Bernard Mbatha, popularly known as Kativui Mweene, is the founder and leader of the renowned Kyaume Boys Band, one of the most recognizable and influential Kamba Benga music groups in Ukambani.
By the time of publication, neither the musician nor his representatives had publicly commented on the incident or the allegations raised during the confrontation.

As videos from the scene continue to circulate online, the incident has once again thrust the private affairs of one of the region’s most celebrated music families into the public spotlight.
