Fear, anger and anxiety are mounting in Kitui after a third woman was found murdered in Ngiini Village, Kitui CentralConstituency, deepening alarm over a disturbing wave of brutal killings targeting women within one month.

The latest killing comes barely three days after the shocking murder of another woman in Kalundu and weeks after a 38-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Slaughter Estate, raising urgent questions over whether the deaths are linked and why no major breakthrough has been made.

The body of the slain woman lay at the crime scene in Ngiini after she was discovered murdered, marking the third such killing in Kitui within a month.

With three women now dead in close succession and no arrests publicly announced, residents are openly questioning whether authorities are doing enough to stop the killings.

Detectives familiar with the investigations, speaking to Channel 15 News on condition of anonymity, described the pattern as troubling and said the repeated attacks cannot be ignored.

“Three women killed within weeks under violent circumstances is not something investigators can treat as routine.

There is concern about a pattern,” a source said.Another security source pointed to growing concerns over the pace and visibility of the response.“There is increasing concern there has not been sufficient urgency. Some believe there is little visible will to decisively confront what may be emerging,” the source told Channel 15 News.

Police load body of the slain woman in a police van in Kitui town, where the body of a young woman was found with deep stab wounds, sparking fears over a disturbing pattern in a string of killings targeting women.

The back-to-back killings have sparked outrage across Kitui, with residents demanding answers over why women appear increasingly vulnerable and why no suspect has been publicly identified.Critics say silence from authorities is only fueling fear.

Questions now dominating public discussion include: Who is killing women in Kitui? Why do the murders keep happening? And why has no one been stopped?Residents in Ngiini, Kalundu and Slaughter say the killings are no longer being viewed as isolated crimes, but as part of a growing security crisis.“This is now beyond ordinary crime. People are frightened, especially women,” said one resident.

Security analysts say the emerging pattern raises concern not only about possible links among the murders, but whether gaps in policing, intelligence and response may be emboldening perpetrators.

As investigators pursue forensic leads and examine possible connections among the victims, pressure is mounting on authorities to break their silence and act before another life is lost.

For many in Kitui, the question is no longer whether there is a crisis. It is whether anyone is willing to stop it.
