National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has rejected a request by Azimio leader Kalonzo Musyoka to remove Junet Mohamed as the Leader of the Minority in the National Assembly of Kenya.

In his response, the Speaker questioned the authenticity of a letter that had reportedly been sent by the Azimio coalition proposing a change in the Minority leadership.

Wetang’ula said the letter contained several typographical and grammatical errors, raising doubts about whether it had indeed originated from Kalonzo Musyoka or the Azimio leadership.

The letter had proposed that Suba South MP Caroli Omondi replace Junet Mohamed as the Minority Leader.

However, the Speaker said the communication did not meet the standards required for official parliamentary correspondence and could therefore not be acted upon.

The decision means Junet Mohamed will remain the Minority Leader in the National Assembly, at least for now, as the dispute within the Azimio coalition over parliamentary leadership continues to play out.
