Musambi Declares Himself Kitui Central “De Facto MP”, Claims Ruto to Release Kshs. 800 Million for Kitui–Kibwezi Road Compensation

A youth empowerment event at Revanela Grounds in Kitui Central erupted into political fireworks as leaders clashed over unity within UDA and the direction of development in the Lower Eastern region.

Former Kitui Central MP aspirant Bonface Musambi took center stage, boldly declaring himself the “de facto MP” and accusing elected leaders of going missing in action when it comes to championing government projects.

Musambi claimed President William Ruto is preparing to release Kshs. 800 million to settle compensation disputes along the stalled Kitui–Kibwezi road — funds he said would finally unlock progress and transform livelihoods.

“We have an electronic MP who was elected but never appears in government projects. I am the de facto MP because I walk with the people and with the government,” Musambi told the cheering crowd.

Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo backed Musambi’s stance, taking aim at Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse of Maendeleo Chap Chap, whom he accused of fueling disunity within the UDA team in Lower Eastern.

“Leader after leader has spoken — Mutuse is the face of division in Lower Eastern. Instead of consolidating support for the President, he is busy creating rifts,” Mwalyo said.

But the event took a dramatic turn when Kitui South MP Dr. Rachel Kaki rallied the crowd to stand firmly behind Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka Kawaya, who attended as guest of honor.

“As UDA, we must stick together. Hon. Vincent Musyoka is our regional coordinator and deserves our full support, not unnecessary fights,” Kaki declared.

The fiery exchanges laid bare the fragile unity within UDA in Ukambani, where Musambi and Mwalyo accuse Kawaya of undermining the President, while Kaki insists he remains the rightful coordinator for the region.

With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the showdown at Revanela Grounds underlined the intense power struggles shaping the future of Ukambani politics.
