Wiper Party Leader H.E. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has called for a full investigation into the sudden death of Kariobangi North MCA Hon. Joel Munuve, cautioning the nation against slipping back into a culture of political assassinations.
Speaking during a solemn send-off ceremony held in Nzeluni village, Migwani Ward, Kalonzo described Munuve as a fearless and uncompromising leader who courageously exposed corruption within Nairobi County.
“We want to know exactly what happened to Hon. Munuve. If it is proved that it was a blood clot, we will accept that. What we will not allow to continue is the practice of political assassinations,” Kalonzo stated.
Hon. Munuve was eulogised as a dedicated public servant who served the people of Nairobi with passion and remained deeply connected to his Kitui roots. The emotional ceremony brought together leaders and mourners from across the country.
Among those who joined the grieving family and community were Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, who represents Munuve’s home constituency, and Kitui County Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu. DAP-K Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa also attended in solidarity, standing alongside Kalonzo as they both honoured a young leader whose political star was rising fast.
The Speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly led a delegation of MCAs from Nairobi, who spoke of Munuve’s firm stance against graft. Several members of the Kitui County Assembly and staff from both Kitui and Nairobi County governments also attended, reflecting Munuve’s wide influence and the unity of purpose he championed.
The funeral not only marked a moment of mourning but also ignited a national conversation on the safety of vocal leaders and the need for justice, transparency, and accountability in Kenya’s political space.
