What was meant to be a routine leadership transition in the Kitui County Assembly turned into a battleground today as chaos erupted on the floor of the House. The newly elected Majority Leadership under Hon. Munyoki Mwinzi faced fierce resistance as they attempted to assume office, sparking physical altercations among MCAs.

According to eyewitnesses, blows and kicks reigned supreme as rival factions clashed, forcing police officers to intervene. In the ensuing melee, officers trying to restore order were caught in the violence, with sources claiming that one officer suffered broken teeth after being attacked in the scuffle.

The dramatic turn of events raises questions about the deepening cracks within Wiper Party and the growing tensions in Kitui’s political landscape. Will the new leadership manage to assert control, or is this just the beginning of a prolonged power struggle?
