A strange and chilling spectacle has left residents of Kitheuni Sub-Location, Ikombe Location, in utter disbelief after a 24-year-old man decided to dig his own grave and invite locals to attend his burial on January 1, 2025.
The young man, whose name remains undisclosed, sent shockwaves through the quiet village after he meticulously prepared his final resting place, announcing that he planned to “rest forever” on New Year’s Eve. To everyone’s bewilderment, he even delivered personalized invitations to his neighbors, urging them to join him in witnessing what he termed as “his final chapter.”
A Village Gripped by Fear and Curiosity
The eerie incident unfolded when the village elder raised the alarm, prompting the area sub-chief to intervene. Channel 15 News visited the scene, where villagers gathered in clusters, whispering in hushed tones. Many struggled to comprehend the man’s actions, with some speculating it might be an elaborate stunt, while others feared he was acting under some dark spiritual influence.
One shaken neighbor recounted, “We thought he was joking, but when we saw the grave, chills ran down our spines. He even placed flowers on it and made a wooden cross with his name engraved on it!”
Authorities Step In
Concerned about the psychological impact of the incident, the sub-chief swiftly organized a team of counselors to engage the man and assess his mental state. Shockingly, preliminary investigations revealed that the man is of sound mind, with no history of mental illness or previous bizarre behavior.
“This is unlike anything we’ve encountered before,” the sub-chief remarked. “The man is calm, coherent, and insists he is fully aware of what he’s doing. We are, however, leaving nothing to chance and are continuing to monitor the situation closely.”
A Bizarre ‘New Year’s Celebration’
The man’s chilling declaration has left the entire village on edge as the countdown to New Year’s Eve begins. While some villagers are gearing up to welcome 2025 with jubilation, others are gripped with dread, unsure of what might transpire.
“This is not how we celebrate the New Year here,” said one elder, shaking his head in disbelief. “It’s unsettling to think someone is planning to take their own life while the rest of us are praying for blessings and good health.”
A Cry for Help or Something More?
Mental health experts have urged the community to treat the matter with utmost seriousness, emphasizing that such incidents often signal underlying distress. “This could be a silent cry for help,” said one counselor. “The fact that he’s gone to such great lengths to prepare for his death should compel us to act decisively to prevent a tragedy.”
As the sun sets over Kitheuni, the air remains thick with anxiety and unanswered questions. Will the young man go through with his unsettling plan, or can the village rally together to offer him the support he might desperately need?
